8) This is the series that got me started collecting anime. I loved the entire series, The excellent animation (for it's time), Cool storylines, And a rocking soundtrack. It is one of those serieses that will always rank as one of my all time favorites.

Well, Tenchi got me collecting anime, but I had friends back in high school (6 years ago) that had some favourites of their own. BGC just happened to be one of those series that I was told is a "must own" in any anime fans collection. I ordered and bought the VHS box set before even seeing it.
I've been in love with the series ever since .
And I agree, everything is wicked for that "time period," which is why I want to retell it. We've already surpassed much of the technology created for the series in 1987. I think this is a great oppurtunity to rerepresent what the future may be like in another 30 years. I just don't feel that T2040 did it well enough.
But that topic belongs on another board .

I got exposed to BGC in 86 I think by a friend of mine who's dad lived in Tokyo and would send him laser disks of anime. He's got quite the collection. But I saw it there at his place and was in love there and then and knew that this would take predence over my macross fetish.
To such an extent that we formed our own Knight Saber team and RPG'ed the hell outta them.So yea I'd have to say that for me The 1st OVA helped me start on a better creative path then I was with Macross. I became a tech-otaku because of it as well.
